So, here we all are in our homes working to keep the indoor space clean, disinfected and sanitary in order to keep our families healthy.  There are a few extra tasks you should be doing, beyond your typical house cleaning routine, that will help keep your indoor space cleaner and healthier for you and your family.

Lose the Shoes

Your shoes carry a host of germs and bacteria from parking lots, public bathrooms, etc.  When you walk back into your home these germs and bacteria can still be on the bottom of your shoes, which means you are bringing them into your home.  The best thing to do is to take those shoes off at the door.

Our technicians have booties they place onto their shoes prior to entering your home in order to protect your home from germs and bacteria, allowing them the safety of having on their work shoes and the ability to go in and out of your home easily.

Disinfect the Gadgets

Your phone, computer keyboard, mouse, iPad, Kindle, remote control, etc. are typically used daily.  These items can become covered in germs that can be dangerous to others in your home, as well as yourself.  Keep a container of disinfecting wipes within reach to give the devices a once-over before each use (or after – whichever you prefer!)

Sanitize the Linens

Bedding, including pillowcases, sheets, duvets, etc. and bathroom towels should be washed frequently.  The recommendation is to wash towels after 3 uses, as well as each family member having their own hand towel and wash cloth.  Bedding should be washed weekly.  These items should be laundered in the hottest possible cycle.  This will eliminate germs and dirt.

Clean the HVAC System

Having the HVAC system cleaned annually is a smart idea.  This keeps your warranty in check, keeps your unit humming along, and avoids unnecessary repairs.  However, it also keeps the air in your home fresh.  Professional annual maintenance ensures the interior of your unit is clean and functioning.

A quick tip to maintaining a clean unit with clean flowing air is to change your furnace filter frequently.  An easy task you can complete on your own.

Install Indoor Air Purifying Products

Installing indoor air products can help to improve the quality of the air within your home.  American Standard’s AccuClean Air Filtration System removes up to 9998% of allergens from the filtered air and is certified allergy and asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

UV air purifiers, like the Honeywell unit,  take the forced air from the HVAC system and uses a UV light to kill airborne and surface micro-organism contaminants.

Both products provide an even greater level of protection to keep your inside safe and sanitary.
